List of Metrics for Segmenting, Targeting and Reporting

Main Metrics

  • Total Visitors: total number of visitors visited during the selected range of dates
  • Total Repeat Visitors: total number of repeat visitors (those who accessed your website  more than once anytime in the past) during the selected ranges
  • Total Unique Visitors: total number of unique visitors (those who accessed your website only once) during the selected ranges
  • Bounce Rate: fractions of visitors who left your website without accessing more than one page

General Details

  • Browser: the browser used by visitor to access your website
  • Operating System: the Operating System used by visitor to access your website
  • Mobile: the mobile phone used by visitor to access your website
  • IP Address: the IP address of the visitor accessing your website
  • Organization: the organization of the visitor accessing your website
  • City: the city from where the visitor is accessing your website
  • Country: the country from where the visitor is accessing your website
  • Hour of Day at Latest Visit: the hour of the day (of visitor's timezone) when the visitor latest accessed your website. It ranges from 0-23
  • Day of Week at Latest Visit: the day of the week (of visitor's timezone) when the visitor latest accessed your website. It is Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, etc.

Traffic Source

  • Search Keywords for first visit: the keywords on search engines used by the visitor to get to your website for the first time. In case of no search keywords, the value is blank
  • Referring URL for first visit: the referring URL for the first time visit by the visitor. In case of direct hit, the value is blank
  • Search Keywords for latest visit: the keywords on search engines used by the visitor to get to your website the latest time he visited. In case of no search keywords, the value is blank
  • Referring URL for latest visit: the referring URL for the latest visit by the visitor. In case of direct hit, the value is blank

Time Behavior

  • Average Time Spent Per Session: the average amount of time in seconds spent by the visitor per session.
  • Total Time Spent on URL: for the URL specified as parameter, what is the total time in seconds spent by the visitors. You can enter full URL like http://www.mydomain.com/thankyou.html or if you want to match category (and get total time spent in that category), you can enter URL like http://www.mydomain.com/cars/[*]

    The string [*] is a wildcard opeator which matches any text. So, the above example (http://www.mydomain.com/cars/[*]) would match:
    • http://www.mydomain.com/cars/buy
    • http://www.mydomain.com/cars/ford
    • Or even, http://www.mydomain.com/cars/

    A more complex example would be, http://www.mydomain.com/[*]?ref=twitter[*] . It would match

    • http://www.mydomain.com/anything?ref=twitter
    • or http://www.domain.com/cars/buy?ref=twitter&banner=22

  • Total Time Spent: the total time in seconds spent by the visitor on your website across all sessions
  • Average Time Spent Per Page: the average time in seconds spent by visitor per page visited on your website

Page Views Behavior

  • Total Page Views: total number of page views on your website by the visitor across all sessions
  • Page Views in Latest Session: number of page views on your website by the visitor in the latest ( current) session
  • Page Views Per Session: average number of page views on your website by the visitor per session
  • Visited Page?: Returns 1 if the visitor has visited the page, 0 is he has not. Accepts URL (as parameter) in the same format as Total Time Spent on URL
  • Landing Page for Latest Session: the page of your website where the visitor landed in his latest session
  • Exit Page for Last Session: the page of your website from where the visitor exited in his last session
  • Last Page Viewed in Current Session: the page on your website that visitor saw just before the current page (in case of fresh arrival, the value is blank)
  • Downstream URL: comprehensive details about which pages did the visitor visited just immediately before the page/category specified in the parameter
  • Upstream URL: comprehensive details about which pages did the visitor visited just immediately after the page/category specified in the parameter
  • All PageView Details: comprehensive details about which pages did the visitor visited and when

Recency and Frequency

  • Days Since Last Session: The number of days since the visitor’s last session. Useful if checking for segments offline, when the visitor is not on the website
  • Days Since Last Session (Excluding Latest): The number of days since the visitor’s last session (excluding the current one). Useful for checking segments online, when the visitor is on the website
  • Total Number Of Sessions: The total number of sessions on your website by the visitor
  • Sessions Per Day: the number of sessions per day by the visitor. Most of the values would be in fractions as most visitors do not visit the website more than once per day

Custom Variables

  • Custom Variable Value: The value of the custom variable you specify in parameter

Goals

  • Triggered Goal: checks if the visitor has triggered goal or not
  • Goal Total Value Per Visitor: the total value of goal (specified in the parameter) triggered by the visitor. For example, if a visitor has triggered (numeric) goal twice (with values 2, 5), the goal total value would be 7. In case of binary goals, the possible values can be 0 or 1. So, if a binary goal is trigger thrice, the total value would be 3
  • Goal Average Value Per Visitor: the average value of goal (specified in the parameter)   triggered by the visitor. For example, if a visitor has triggered (numeric) goal twice (with values 2, 5), the goal average value would be 3.5. In case of binary goals, the possible values can be 0 or 1. So, if a binary goal is trigger thrice, the average value would be 1. In fact, for a binary goal, no matter how many times it is triggered, the average value for a visitor would remain 1. So, this metric can be used to detect if at all the visitor has completed goal

Experiments

  • Variation assigned to the visitor: returns the variation assigned to the visitor for the selected experiment and factor

Segments

  • Check if Visitor is in Segment: checks if visitor is in segment you specify in the parameter and returns 1 if true, 0 otherwise
  • Get all Segments: returns all segments to which the visitor belongs

Individual Visitor

  • Check if Visitor is in Visitor ID list: checks if the visitor id of the visitor belongs to the list of visitor ids you specify in the parameters. The format of list of visitor ids is a comma separated list. E.g. 55, 67, 89, 90
